3.0 version
For the 1st version of the local masking feature, we have released the local masking for Person and Background.
Currently, the basic color adjustment feature is available for local masking. Please stay tuned for upcoming tools that offer more color adjustments and masking editing capabilities.
3.2 version
For the update on the local masking on our 3.2 version, we have provided more options under the Person mask. This includes identifying the person in the picture, and for each person to adjust based on Entire Person, Face, Face skin, Body skin, Hair Clothes, and others.
We have also added the Custom Local Mask feature selection. For the Custom Mask, we currently support the three different types of methods to create your custom mask. Brush, Linear Gradient, and Radial Gradient:
Use brush to remove or add the mask area
Brush adjustment: Size, Softness, Flow, and Density
You can also use the Invert to invert the section which you have applied using the brush.
Use to create a linear adjustment, and support for customizing in the area size, the direction. Usually used for masking the sky, skyline, or building area inside of the picture.
After you have clicked on the Linear Gradient, you will be able to see the masking area on the side of the preview section. Once you have formed the mask, there will be three horizontal lines with one vertical line. One vertical line represents the center line of the mask, and three horizontal for the starting (the masking starting area), the center, and the ending (the masking gradient ending).
Move the starting or ending line to adjust the gradient size and area.
Put the mouse to the area between the gradient mask, and you will be able to move the mask around.
You will be able to find a little extension of the center line. Put the mouse to the extension, and you will find the mouse has become a rotation sign and move it around to adjust/rotate the angle of the mask.
Please note that you will not be able to add a new mask at the same area. However you can create a new mask and move it to the same area as before.
Use to create a circle or ellipse masking area, and support for customizing in the area size or the direction. Usually used for masking the figure's head, or the sun at the background inside of the picture.
Click on Radial Gradient, you will be able to find the mask creation on the picture preview section. You will see two ellipse lines, which are the inner line and the outer line, to form a radial gradient mask.
The inner line represents the soft starting point of the gradient, and you can adjust the inner circle by using the point located at the inner line.
The outer line will represent the end of the gradient, and you can adjust the overall size of the ellipse radial gradient from horizontal or vertical.
Move the mask by placing your mouse at the mask while you see a hand icon.
The little extension located at the outer line will allow you to make a rotation on the radial gradient mask.
After you have created the custom mask, you will be able to see all the custom masks you have created under the Local mask section. You should be able to right-click on the mask to:
Delete the Selected Mask
Edit the Selected Mask
You could also select the created mask after you have enter the Editing Mask section, and then editing the mask by clicking on the mask, or moving the mask while the mouse changes to hand icon.
Invert
You will be able to find the inverted selection for all the custom masking types. By applying the invert, all the selected mask areas will be inverted.
3.3 version
New facial features mask for local masking!
The facial features mask selection has been added for individual person mask selection: Eyebrows, Sclera, Iris & Pupil, Lips, and Teeth.
In 3.3, we also enable more color adjustment feature groups except for the basic color adjustment. You can now use the Curves feature group, the HSL feature group, and Color Grading color adjustment under the local adjustment to correct the local mask more precisely.
3.6 version
New sub mask – [Skin] is now available for local adjustment. For all local adjustments under Person. It is the combination of the face skin and body skin.
Now under [All Persons], we have add all the sub mask for all person to select. This means you can edit all person’s detail color mask at the same time. And all the effect under [All Persons] can be synced through out the project.
Hidden the selected mask color adjustment effect – it will also not be included while exporting the picture
Apply any changes to the parameter at Option Control Panel, such as pulling the slider on basic color adjustment or reseting the effect, and the eye icon will automatically open.
Under Quick Access for local masking, while hovering your mouse to the icon of that mask, the section of that mask will be highlighted at Image Preview Section.
You can select the different local masking and add to the preset.
Currently with the local mask, we support the syncing and saving the preset for the local color adjustment under full image, Person (not for each identified individual), and background.
Please note the local color adjustment for each identified individual mask (including the detailed selection of each identified individual mask) or the custom mask, cannot be synced or saved for the preset.
